Barbara Hatfield

April 9, 1949 — December 24, 2021

Barbara Ellen Hatfield, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at 12:42am.

Barbara was born in Hollywood, CA on April 9, 1949. She then moved with her family to Missouri, and then on to Arkadelphia, AR. She attended Arkadelphia Senior High School where she enjoyed playing the oboe, marching in the band and performing as a Majorette with her "fire batons".

She married Kent Stephen Hatfield on June 19, 1971. They lived in Little Rock, AR before moving to Baton Rouge, LA in the 1980's. They had two children, Andrea Dawn and Leann Rainey. They divorced in 1999 after 28 years of marriage.

Barbara worked as a legal secretary for many years and retired in 2020 from the Hammond, Sills, Adkins and Guice law firm. She also worked briefly as a private investigator and enjoyed it immensely.

She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed line dancing at The Texas Club where she would dance all night. She also loved watching football games played by the University of Arkansas "Razorbacks" and the University of Alabama "Crimson Tide". She was always eager to place one of her famous "One Dollar" bets on the games.

She deeply loved her horse, Hope. Hope was one of the greatest loves of her life. She spent all her spare time with her. She loved to dress Hope in costumes for the kids. She also loved having Hope spend the night in her backyard on balmy evenings.

Barbara is survived by her daughters,  Leann Rainey Westman, and husband, Ross; Andrea Dawn Davitt, and husband, John; her grandchildren: Jake Hawkins, Hannah Hawkins, Carter Hatfield, Caitlin Davitt, Cullen Davitt, Ceegan Davitt; along with her newest granddaughter, 5 month old, Rozalyn Irene Gail Westman.

She is also survived by her brother, Richard Brice Hoover; her sister, Patricia Wood, and husband, George "Woody"; and nieces, Lee and Melissa.

She is preceeded in death by her parents,  Harry Lavergne and Pansy Irene Hoover; her maternal grandparents, Doc Lee Rainey and Ella Smith; paternal grandparents, Edwin Brice Hoover and Lillie Mae Hatley; and her brothers, Edwin Lee Hoover and Bryant Lavergne Whitehead.

Barbara had numerous friends, honorary children and grandchildren. She was loved by so many!

She can now dance the night away and ride Hope in green meadows. I love you, mom!
