Barbara Brownfield

Barbara R. Brownfield, age 81, native of Mansfield and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a graduate of the class of 1952 at Istrouma High School. Barbara received her Bachelor's degree in 1956 and her Master's degree in 1961, both from Louisiana State University. She was a Teacher in East Baton Rouge Parish School System for 22 years and a Principal for 20 years.

Barbara is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Y. Brownfield; niece, Shawn Lyn McCage and Dr. Samuel V. McCage of Weatherford, TX; niece, Mandi Leigh Mashon and Ron J. Mashon, Jr. of Watson, LA; great-nieces, Ryan Grace Blackwell and Kylie Layne Blackwell of Weatherford, TX, and Darian Rashelle Mashon and Bailey Christene Mashon of Watson, LA; and great-nephew, Joseph Gage Mashon of Watson, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David Ross Brownfield and Artie Grace Brewer Brownfield; sister, Willie Lee Brownfield; and brother, Richard Earl Brownfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Visiting hours will continue on Monday, November 9, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Special thanks to the Doctors and staff of the Carpenter House at St. Joseph's Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carpenter House or to Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
