B. F. Beeson passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2018, after a long and wonderful life of 92 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dianne Cretini Beeson, daughters Paula Ann Beeson, Lori Beeson Kaiser, Becky Beeson Brown, son-in-law David Brown, grandchildren Leah Elise Kaiser, Dane Scott Kaiser, Melissa Brown Olinde, Michael David Brown, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was born on May 30, 1926, to Benjamin Franklin Beeson and Myra Hinson Beeson, and had one sister, Marguerite Beeson Young, who preceded him in death.
A World War II veteran and a lifelong educator, he was a native of Fullerton, Louisiana, and a long-time resident of Baton Rouge. He received his B.S. from McNeese State University, and both his M.S. and PhD. degrees from LSU. From his early days coaching boys and girls basketball at Pitkin (LA) High School to the many years he taught math and chemistry at University High School in Baton Rouge, he retired from LSU as an assistant professor in the College of Education. Dr. Beeson touched the lives of many students and never tired of telling stories, imparting knowledge, and debating the issues of the day. Always an LSU basketball and football fan, he also loved fishing, gardening, camping, playing his guitar, home improvement projects, porch swing sitting, crossword puzzles, raising horses and cows, and watching Westerns. A farm boy at heart, he shared his love of nature and country living with his family.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. A burial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin, LA.
The family wishes to thank Lisa Bayhi for her compassionate care over that past several years, the nurses of Stat Home Health, and the staff of St. Joseph's Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital or St. Joseph's Hospice.
