Ava Dean Gilmore Lockhart. Age 92, passed away on February 6, 2022, at home with her husband by her side.
She was born in Columbia, LA to Thomas A. Gilmore and Rosa E. Gilmore. Ava Dean's parents, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Lockhart of Baton Rouge, LA; her children: Gail Foy (Wayne) of Fort Necessity, LA, Cathy LaGrange (Cliff) of Fort Necessity, LA, P. T. Crum of Wisner, LA and Lonnie Sue Black of Baton Rouge, LA.; grandchildren: Austin Foy, Quincey Foy, Jessica Black, Lindsey Black and Garrett Glass; great grandchildren: Angel Foy, Kara Black and Ava Black; nieces: Tracy Holmes, Angie Wisner (Danny), Janet Foy (Joe), Janice Laurent (Lee), Tammy Rivett (Joe); and nephews: Ronald Gilmore (Stella), and Tommy Gilmore (Carolyn).
Ava Dean enjoyed going to church, sewing and preparing meals for family and friends.
Walter wants to thank our private caregiver, friends, and The Hospice Foundation of Baton Rouge for their support during Ava's illness.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on February 14, 2022, in the Chapel at the Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA. The funeral service will be held after the visitation in the Chapel with Dr. David Goza of the Jefferson Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the mausoleum with Pastors George Threeton and David Smith of the Greenwell Springs Baptist Church.
