After a courageous yearlong fight with ovarian cancer, Audrey Mae Gill died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at her home in Slaughter. She was 74 and a native of Lake Charles. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joe Sherwin. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Alton Gill; a daughter, Cathy James and husband John; a daughter-in-law, Kyong Marchiafava; a sister, Norma Shoemake; five grandchildren, Heather James Ellis and husband Joshua, Stephanie Gill Stalter and husband Ben, Stacey Gil, Shannon James Orillion and husband Dustin, and Shane James; and three great-grandchildren, Emma James, Isabella Ellis and Preston Stalter. Preceded in death by two sons, Dwayne Jay Gill and Milton Ray Gill; and a brother, Ray Moore. She loved to travel and bowl.
