Retired from the U.S. Navy and a resident of Walker, he died at 4:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at Harvest Manor Nursing Home. He was 78, a resident of Walker and a native of Jackson, Miss. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, March 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jack Varnado. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Emogene Brown Ainsworth; daughter, Carol Harbinson, Maryland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk and Pam Ainsworth, Maryland, and Johnny Wayne and Donna Ainsworth, Baton Rouge; three sisters, Dorothy Dot and husband John McLaughlin, Kimberling City, Mo., Joann and husband Warren Holden, Baton Rouge, and Carolyn Cookie Mixon, Denham Springs; two sisters-in-law, Rita Ainsworth Romero, Baton Rouge, and Jo Rimes, Mississippi; brother-in-law, Doug Brown, Arizona; six grandchildren, Crystal Meliet and husband Ron, Lil' Johnny Jr., Matthew and Christina Ainsworth and Sarah and Austin Harbinson; three great-grandchildren, Shea, Kylie and Mallory Meliet; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, John J.W. and Ottie Ainsworth; son, Perry Lee Ainsworth; two brothers, Ronald and Billy Ainsworth; and nephew, Bill Ainsworth. Pallbearers will be Johnny, Matthew, Troy and William Ainsworth, Ron Meliet, Richie Hutson and Steve Hanson. Honorary pallbearers are Shea Meliet and Austin Harbinson. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at the pond and loved working in his garden and workshop. His favorite hobby of all was loving his beautiful wife.
