A devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend
died on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the age of 93. He was a native of Pine Grove, LA. and resident of Baton Rouge. Arthur was a loving Christian man and lived a life of service to his Lord, family, and community. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and retired from Exxon as an analyst after 38 years of service. Arthur enjoyed his dogs, traveling, camping, gardening, especially his camellias, and genealogy, but his most treasured moments were the times he spent with his beloved wife. He was an ordained Baptist Deacon, a member of Grangeville Masonic Lodge 231, and a member of Jefferson Baptist Church.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elva Dixon Wheat brother, Charles CB B. Wheat and many other relatives of the Joseph H. Wheat and John L. Dixon family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Reid Wheat brothers, Julius B. Wheat, Joseph Harvey Wheat, twin brother, Luther O. Wheat sisters, Jessie W. Thompson and Alice W. Brooks.
Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm. Visiting will resume at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday from 8:00 am until service at 9:30 am. Dr. T.C French and Dr. David Goza will officiate. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
