A retired construction manager and a resident of Denham Springs, he died on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008. He was 85, a World War II veteran and a native of Lake. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Private graveside service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Phyllis Cambre Lass; three daughters, Patricia Ann Miller and husband Woody, Anita Jane Sluss and husband Jack, and Lauren Kay Avara and husband Randy; a son, Joel Steven Lass and wife Rebecca A.; a brother, Warren Lass and wife Leda; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur V. and Mary Smiley Lass; a sister, Irene Marchand and her husband, J.D. Marchand. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson or the American Heart Association.
