Arthur W. A.W. Furnish, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Ochsner Medical Center at age 84. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, on Monday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Merlin Liverman of Parkview Baptist Church. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Born Aug. 3, 1923, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tulagi. He was co-owner of Furnish-Earnhart Weatherstripping Co. Survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Jonnilee Singleton Furnish; three daughters, Beverly and husband Larry Cooper, Baton Rouge, Mary Ann McCoy, Houston, and Sherry and husband Mike Earnhart, Baton Rouge; sister, Paulina Strickland, Kentwood; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sherman Furnish and Virginia Roberts Furnish. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Larry Cooper Jr., Lance Dardis, Kurt Dardis, Clint Earnhart, Russell Talbot and Dru Nettles.
