April Joy Thomason died at her Baker residence on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 9:51 a.m. at the age of 33. She was born on April 25, 1979 in New Roads to Daniel C. Whittenburg and Vickie A. Jarreau. April affectionately called A.J. by her parents and sister earned a business degree with honors while attending Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Married and divorced from William Allen Thomason of Denham Springs, she worked the majority of her short life for a business owned by her former fatherinlaw and motherinlaw, Herbert A. and Jeanette Guillory Thomason of Denham Springs. April is survived by her father and stepmother, Daniel C. Whittenburg and Becky Coxe of Baker her mother, Vickie Ann Jambon and husband, Paul Michel of Baton Rouge a sister, Kristan E. Smith and husband, Kevin Jeffery of Baton Rouge and her maternal grandmother, Murrel Kornegay Jarreau of New Roads. Also survived by her aunt, Stacie Jarreau Kraft of Covington two uncles: Joseph M. Jarreau III and wife, Tammy Mix of New Roads and James W. Jarreau of Baton Rouge a nephew, Kade C. Smith of Baton Rouge and two cousins: Chase Kraft of Covington and Wyatt Jarreau of New Roads. April was preceded in death by her aunt, Leslie Jarreau Fulkerson a maternal grandfather, Joseph M. Jarreau Jr. of New Roads her fraternal grandparents, William D. and Edleweise Whittenburg. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
