Tony, age 52, a resident of Denham Springs, LA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.
He graduated from Catholic High School in 1982 and attended LSU and Southeastern University. Tony was a veteran of the US Army, as well as a member of Istrouma Baptist Church. Tony was a loving husband, father, son, and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan, loved the LSU Tigers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, was an assistant baseball coach for his grandson's little league team. Tony was a very selfless man, and was very giving.
Tony is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shawn Babineaux Dowden; his two sons, Joshua P. Johnson, and Blake A. Dowden and wife Jordan Dowden; his grandchildren, Cade, Stella, and Beau Dowden; his mother and step-dad, Janet and Orville O'Quinn; his brother, Michael Dowden and wife Ashley Dowden. He is also survived by his step-sisters, Lana Allen, and Julie Powell; and his stepbrother, Bill O' Quinn and wife Pam O'Quinn. Tony will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, W.O. Dowden; his grandparents, Charles and Eleanor Lefeaux, and W.O. and Gladys Dowden.
We look forward to the day we will see him again but until then, we will save you a seat on the bleachers.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, La, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, form 9:00 am until funeral services at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation in honor of his grandchildren.
