A retired carpenter and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Butterfly Wing at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. He was 63, a native of New Roads and U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Visiting at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, Friday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Trey Nelson, celebrant, assisted by Deacon Johnny Veron. Rosary will be recited at the church at 10 a.m. Friday. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Sandra Vavasseur Chustz three daughters, Lori Berry and husband Dan, Brandie Chustz and Toni Chustz sister, Veronica Fuselier and husband Donald brother, Charles Chustz and two granddaughters, Jordan and Kylie Berry. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eura Chustz brother, Calvin Chustz and sisterinlaw, Loretta Chustz. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
