Annie Laurie Curry aka “Ms. Lucy”, age 92, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on June 4, 2021. Annie Laurie was married to George McKowen Curry for 51 years. She dedicated her life to the service of others through various organizations such as: Catholic Daughters of America, Catholic Youth Organization, Voting Poll Commissioner, St. Vincent de Paul volunteer and longtime elementary school crossing guard. She was also a devoted founding-member of St Louis, King of France Catholic Church.
“Ms. Lucy” was known to many for her numerous talents and hobbies including: travel, gardening, cooking, sewing, crochet, knitting, quilting, bowling, ceramics, painting, coaching and many, many more. She also thoroughly enjoyed her weekly game and card nights with the girls.
Annie Laurie is survived by her five sons: Daniel and wife Rosalind, Tim and wife Gail, John and wife Amy, Charles and wife Melaine, Pat and wife Sheril, brother, Dr. Jim Alexander, grandchildren: Brian, Daniel (Jr), Scott, Todd, Hannah, Ryan, Kristina, Andrew, Taylor and Marc. Also, great grandchildren: John-Daniel, Braidy, Noah, Quin, Gavin, Max, Jase, Sawyer, Drew and Fletcher. Margie Ann Diez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, George Mck. Parents, Leona & John Dabney Alexander, as well as A.D & Carmen Caldwell. Sisters Marjorie Byrd and Cathrine Trahan. Brothers John D. Alexander and Lawrence Montgomery, grandson Ben Alexander Curry.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, June 10th from 8:30am until funeral mass at 10:30am. Graveside services will follow.
Pallbearers will be Annie Laurie’s grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Annie Laurie’s name.
