A retired preschool teacher from Parkview Baptist Church, she died at 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at her home in Prairieville. She was 79 and a native of Monroe. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by Hulen Warren, pastor. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Allegra and Mark Yancey, Amelia and Timothy Kelley, and Allison and Michael Dunavant; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Terri Nevils; daughter-in-law, Wanda Jordan; brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Judy Coates; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Dan Nevils Jr.; son, Dan Nevils III; parents, Roland and Hettie Coates; and son-in-law, Clifton Lasseigne III. Pallbearers will be Mark Yancey, Timothy Kelley, Michael Dunavant, Craig Lasseigne, Mitchell Lasseigne and Phillip Lasseigne. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
