Ann May Torregrossa, nee Ann Jeanette May, passed away at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on April 17, 2012. Ann was born February 14, 1935, the first child of the late George Wilton May, Jr. and Marguerite Emma Gay. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Alfred Robert Freddie Torregrossa, and a son, Leon Joseph Torregrossa. She is survived by three daughters: Ann Jeanette Torregrossa Bourgeois, Mary Kathleen Torregrossa Posey and husband James, and Marguerite Gay Torregrossa Dozier and husband Darryl five sons, Alfred Robert Torregrossa Jr., George Thomas Torregrossa and wife Karen Eubanks, David Powell Torregrossa and wife Renee Rowell , John Edmond Torregrossa and wife Angela Gravois , Wilba Thompson Torregrossa and wife Kelle Kidd, one daughterinlaw: Lahoma Torregrossa, 18 grandchildren: Michael and Sarah Torregrossa, Dorothy Torregrossa, Dany Martin and Kathleen Posey, Stephanie , Nicole, Allison, Maria, Joseph, Anthony and Zachary Torregrossa, Danny and Blane Torregrossa, Emma and George Dozier, Clayton and Maycen Torregrossa and one greatgrandchild, Aubrey Torregrossa and four sisters, Marguerite Gay May Town and husband Hays Jr., Patricia Marie May Dalton and husband John Jr., George Katherine May Jeansonne and husband Richard, Mary Julie May Stelly and husband Harry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was a graduate of St. Josephs Academy and LSU. She worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board for her entire professional career as a teacher and Administrator. Following her retirement, she was a teacher evaluator and grant writer for the Louisiana State Department of Education. Ann was a member of St. George Catholic Church and served on the Parish Council, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Delta Delta Delta Social Sorority, Catholic Daughters of America, Les Liseuses Book Club, Syn Investment Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was named an outstanding alumna of St. Josephs Academy and was a volunteer at the St. Elizabeth Foundation. Pallbearers will be her sons and her grandsons, Dany Martin, Michael Torregrossa and George Dozier. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Josephs Academy Building Fund , 3015 Broussard St. Baton Rouge, La. 70808 or St. Elizabeth Foundation, 8054 Summa Ave. A, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at noon conducted by Rev Jon Keohler at St. George Catholic Church. Internment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory immediately following.
