Ann Brent

Ann Speeg Brent, age 62, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on January 24, 2019.

Ann spent her entire life in Baton Rouge where she raised her family and built a successful

business, loving her clients as family. She was an incredible mother, raising three children by

herself. As an excellent cook, many warm memories were made around a pot of seafood gumbo

or her typical Sunday dinner of roast, rice, and gravy. While she excelled at all these things,

she was most proud of being a grandmother. She was affectionately known as “Granny Annie”

and “Gagi,” and loved baking, shopping, and crafting with her grandchildren. She was a follower

of Christ, and his light and joy shone through her radiant smile. She was full of love,

compassion, and kindness, and had a true servant’s spirit, always putting others before herself.

The memory of her strong hugs and embrace will continue to comfort us as we mourn her

devastating and unexpected loss.

Ann is survived by her children, Autumn Boyd Miller (Michael), Gregory Welton Boyd Jr.

(Caitlin), and James Edward Brent Jr.; her siblings, John Kenneth Speeg, Jr., Terry Lynn Talley,

and Gerard Wayne Speeg; her grandchildren Anna Claire Ricks-Boyd, Sailor Emaline Miller,

Greyson Michael Miller, Henry James Miller, Lively Lois Miller, and Gregory Welton Boyd III.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Kenneth Speeg and Lois Gonzales Speeg.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home on Sunday, January 27, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 28, 2019, from noon until services at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Resthaven.

The family would like extend our sincere thanks to all of her pastors, family, friends, and clients

who loved and appreciated her big personality and radiant smile.
