A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Zachary, he died at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at his home at the age of 91. He received a degree in electrical engineering from LSU in 1942, and then served in the ArmySignal Corps, working with aircraft communications and radar. He entered active service in the U.S. Navy as a commissioned officer in 1944 and continued his involvement in radar, receiving advanced training at MIT and Bowdoin College. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in May 1946. He worked as electrical engineer for Ethyl Corp., Baton Rouge, and later joined Boeing Co., working on the testing of the Saturn V rocket used in the Apollo Space Program. He served for more than 10 years as operations engineer for the Baton Rouge General Hospital. A longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, Calvary Baptist Church, Slidell, and First Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, he served as a deacon, member of the choir and in numerous other areas of church service. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Oren Conner and the Rev. Larkin Harris. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Patty S. Hunt son and daughterinlaw, Michael D. and Ann B. Hunt two grandchildren, Robert M. Hunt and Elizabeth A. Hunt and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Allen E. and Georgie F. Hunt and seven brothers, Theodore, Edwin, Cecil, Woodrow, Erman, Irving and Clyde Hunt.
