A native of Cut Off and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, July 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitation at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Trey Nelson. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He was born April 5, 1918, in Cut Off, to Andre and Louise Curole. He graduated from LSU in civil engineering and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. before meeting the love of his life, Evelyn Latture. They were married Oct. 25, 1945, and moved to Ville Platte, where they lived and raised four children. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service and retired. During his retirement, he was superintendent of Evangeline Academy and later executive secretary for the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Lions Club. They moved to Baton Rouge in March 1993 to be closer to family and his LSU sports activities. Survived by his wife; and children, Gerry Fitch and husband Chuck, of Baton Rouge, Michael Curole and wife Susie, of Baton Rouge, Nancy Bedwell and husband Ray, of Harvey, and Mark Curole and wife Elisa, of LaFayette, Ga. Also survived by his grandchildren, Jason Curole and wife Sarah, Kara Horne and husband Chad, Parker Vidrine, Jenny Miller and husband Lance, Derek Fitch and wife Lauren, Michelle Blanchard and husband Bryan, Kenzie Fitch, Emily Hodges, Bonnie and Stephen Bedwell, and Clayton, Benna and Jac Curole; great-grandchildren, Layne and Dee Dee Miller and Hayden, Jude and Jerry Horne; brothers, Calvin Curole and wife Maxine, of Galveston, Texas, and Harrison Curole and wife Beverly, of Prairieville; and sister, Doris Simpson, of Metairie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Herb Simpson; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Wiggins Curole. Pallbearers will be Clayton Curole, Jac Curole, Jason Curole, Lance Miller, Chad Horne, Bryan Blanchard and Derek Fitch. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Catholic Church, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or LSU.
