Aline Henley Blackwell, 92, of Baton Rouge, peacefully passed away on June 28, 2022.
Aline was born on January 11, 1930, to Nathaniel and Ernestine Henley of Bogalusa, Louisiana. She was married to her best friend John W. “Jay” Blackwell for 65 years.
She is survived by her four children, Barry Blackwell, and wife Barbara, Jeff Blackwell, and wife Dianne, Mary Elizabeth Arceneaux, and husband Craig, and Randy Blackwell, and wife Donna. Also, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Frances Burdette.
Aline attended Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in 1967, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1970, and furthered her education as a Psychiatric RN III. After retirement, Aline became very dedicated to the American Red Cross in Baton Rouge as a volunteer registered nurse. She worked countless hours for weeks in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Aline is preceded in death by her husband, Jay, infant grandson, Johnathan Blackwell, granddaughter, Marianne Blackwell, and infant great-great-granddaughter, Naomi Allen.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 445 Marquette Avenue on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Visitation begins at 9 AM followed by mass at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana Capital Area Red Cross.
