Alfred Warner

October 2, 1930 — August 19, 2011

A resident of Baton Rouge and retired from East Baton Rouge Police Department with rank of Captain Commander Baton Rouge District 1 after 30 years of service, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2011 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family and friends. He was 80 and born in Epps and a native of Lake Providence, Louisiana. He was a U.S. Air Force Military Police veteran of the Korean War and received several service awards and metals. Upon returning from overseas he married his high school sweetheart JoAnn Duncan of Sondheimer, LA. He worked several years as a deputy with the East Carroll Sheriffs Office before moving to Baton Rouge and attending LSU. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Alfred graduated from Baton Rouge Police Academy and had a deep love and appreciation for the United States of America and proudly displayed the American Flag. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA, Friday, August 26, 2011 from 1 p.m. until religious services starting in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Reverend Randy Johnson with Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his son, John R. Warner, daughterinlaw Kimberly and granddaughters, Makayla and Madison of The WoodlandsConroe, Texas daughter, Staci A. Warner of Amite, LA and honorary daughter and friend, Jennifer Truax. Also survived by his sister, Syble Warner of Lafayette, LA and brother, Holmes Bub Warner and sisterinlaw Doris of Pearl, MS., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years JoAnn Duncan Warner, parents Clair W. and Bessie Warner of Lake Providence, LA brother John E. Warner of Lake Providence and sister Ouida Warner Nosser of Vicksburg, MS. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His family expresses their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to his many friends that visited him in the hospital. He is member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church and 52year member of Fairfields Masonic Lodge 425. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Law Enforcement Officers Fund or a charity of your choice. Pallbearers are Larry Riley, David Wood, Avon Bull Satterwhite, T.O. Cox, Charlie Middleton, and Russell Pellichino. Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Bennett, Riley Jones, Kenny Howard, Len Eusay, and officers of Baton Rouge City Police Department.
