Alejandro Naranjo passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2016, at the age of 93. Alex died resting peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Alex lived a great, long life, calling many beautiful cities home: his beloved birthplace of Barranquilla, Albany and New York, NY, Miami, FL and ultimately Baton Rouge, LA. Alex was a devout Catholic, serving for many years as an Usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Alex was a kind and gentle man who extended love to all who knew him. Alex loved to vacation and travel the world, especially loving the beach and tropical destinations. Above all else, he valued God and his family, and was often overheard telling others of his love for both.
Alex is survived by his best friend and wife of 67 years, Elvia; his beloved daughter and only child, Perla; the pride and joy of his life, his two grandsons: Lawrence David and David Charles Steele Jr.; his sister in laws, Gladys Andon, Edithe and Sonya Colina, and his brother in law, Orlando Colina.
His family requests the presence of those who knew him to join them for a memorial service to be held on Tuesday, October, 25, 2016 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, services to begin at 11am, with lunch and an opportunity to celebrate his life to immediately follow.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
