A retired land surveyor and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 89 and a native of Cuba. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, from 10:30 a.m. until religious service at 11:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Mike Schatzle and the Rev. Rafael Juantorena. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Maria Bustillo Fradera; two daughters, Lourdes Alvarez and Beatriz Hailey and husband Derek, all of Baton Rouge; brother, Manolo Fradera; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Maria De Los Angeles Fradera; son-in-law, Jorge Alvarez; and sister, Georgina Torrella.
