Alan Darrell Bowden, 93, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2022. Darrell was born on November 27, 1928, in Trees, LA. He graduated from Rodessa High School, attended Louisiana College, and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Traveling was Darrell’s passion and transportation was his chosen career. He was employed by and owned transportation and trucking companies, focusing on bulk transport of chemical, energy, and hazardous materials. Darrell was married to Leda Nash Bowden for 73 years. He is survived by daughters Karen Farris Fowler (Bill) and Rebekah Lemoine Odenwald, favorite cousin Patsy Hagood Perritt (Ron), grandsons Bryan and Alan Farris, and granddaughters English Lemoine and Cheria’ LeBlanc (Mark). Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Waymon Sims and Ruby Bowden and his brother Waymon Bowden, Jr. (Dorothy). He was a lifelong church member, active at Florida Blvd. Baptist Church and then University Baptist Church. Special thanks to The Claiborne of Baton Rouge, Hospice of Baton Rouge, and his sitters. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816, with services conducted by Rev. Sheldon Martin following at 2 p.m. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobdell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806, in Alan Darrell Bowden’s name.
