Joe Diez went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 11, 2022 at the age of 84. He was born December 22, 1937 in Gonzales, LA to Maude Villar Diez and Callie J. Diez, Sr.
Joe graduated from Woodlawn High School and BR Business College in 1956 and attended LSU. He served three years active service in the United States Army, which included the year of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a licensed radio and television technician. Joe worked at Exxon Refinery where he created a computer program for which he authored a manual and traveled extensively conducting training implementation.
He met Janice Achord at Seventh Ward School in the third grade and they were married in July, 1957. They welcomed son, Michael in 1962.
A member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for over 60 years, he enjoyed horticulture, LSU football, NASCAR racing and was an avid home chef. His greatest passion was the enjoyment of family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife, Janice Achord Diez, granddaughters Mallori Elizabeth Hudson (Kyle), Michaela Leanne Diez (C. J.), great-grandchildren Kaylea Diez, Jude Michael Brecheen, Hugh Hudson, Jack Hudson and Mary Margaret Hudson; brother Callie “T-Boy” Diez, Jr; nephews Dennis, Danny (Tanya) and Jason (Suzanne) Diez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; son, Michael David Diez; and his sister-n-law Louise “Tootie” Diez.
A celebration of his life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home at 11817 Jefferson Hwy on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm with services on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 beginning at 9:00 with services at 11:00. Interment to follow.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Fifth Floor of the BR General Hospital Bluebonnet and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
