Adele Elsie Kennedy Langlois was born on March 12, 1931, and died on April 20, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many close friends, in the comfort and peace of her family home.
Adele was born to Molly Belle and Emile “Red” Kennedy of Baton Rouge. She was a proud graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, attended LSU, and always spoke fondly of her first professional job at City National Bank. Adele was a driving force in partnering with her husband, Mackie Langlois, to build their family business, Partco Inc. Adele was the backbone of her home, raising 8 children and many, many “adopted” children who felt just as much a part of her family.
In 1956, Adele met Mackie and after dancing the night away, they courted for two years and married on August 23, 1958. Together they raised their 8 children, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Adele always had an open door, open arms, an open ear, and the biggest open heart. She was sure to give you laughter and the shirt off her back with a purse to match.
Adele is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mackie; her daughter, Molly Langlois; her parents; in-laws, Ramsey and Louise Langlois; brother Emile 'Tank' Kennedy; and sister, Frances Kennedy Roy.
She is survived by her loving children, John Langlois, Jr. (Tracy), Libby Dunbar (Winder), Georgiana Langlois, Becky Langlois (Chris Dugas), Mary Langlois, Frances Lee (David), and Jennifer Langlois; Her sister, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S. Harrell's Ferry Rd. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Friday, April 26, 2024. Visitation to be held from 10 a.m. until Noon, with Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Adele's wish was that those attending dress in color, share fond memories and laugh and sing as much as possible.
Pallbearers include six of her eight children, John, Libby, Becky, Mary, Franny, and Jenny.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Ann Boltin and Mrs. Angelle Boyd of Pinnacle Hospice and Home Care Services; Madison Haynes, a devoted caregiver and granddaughter; Mrs. Charlotte Goins Jones and Mrs. Amirah Goins Jingles, her loving and committed daily sitters; and Carla Walker of Baton Rouge General home health for coordination of exceptional home care.
