Addie May Brown passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 3:15pm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she left her physical body.
Addie was known by several names – her siblings and in-laws called her “Sis” or “Sister Baby”, her numerous nieces and nephews called her “Aunt Sis”, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her “Mawmaw”.
She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Paul Ernest Brown; her mother, Idella Louise May; her father, Woodrow W. May; her son, Gregory Paul Brown; and her brothers Jerry Keith May and Warren Woodrow May.
Addie was able to meticulously wrap presents that left you in awe of how perfect it looked. She was a fierce advocate for those born with spina fida due to her own children being afflicted with the condition. She was an active volunteer for the now defunct Spina Bifida Association of Baton Rouge. She was a lifelong member at First United Methodist Church and would watch the service every Sunday when she was unable to attend in person.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda “Susie” Brown Inwood, and her husband Doug Inwood; her grandchildren Jordan Grove and his wife Crystal Grove, and Megan Grove; sister Margaret Wingate and husband James “Jimmy”; brother Michael “Mike” May; and four great grandchildren, Tristan Grove, Danica Grove, Amelia Grove, and Julia Grove.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, January 26, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with burial to follow.
