Adam Peter Bongiovanni, Jr., a native of New Orleans and a resident of Prairieville, LA, a beloved husband, brother, father, and uncle, departed this life on August 21, 2021, at the age of 74. He passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with heart disease with his wife Linda by his side.
Adam was a welder and an avid sportsman. He loved fishing, the outdoors, and watching sports. After his retirement, when he wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed working in his yard and tying his fishing flies. He worked for many years as a welder at Avondale Shipyards, American Commercial Barge Lines and Boh Bros. in New Orleans. He was also employed by Park and Recreation departments in Jefferson and East Baton Rouge Parishes. He attended St. Dominic’s Catholic School, Mc Donough 35, and Delgado Community College in New Orleans. Adam was a not a big talker, but you mention fishing, and he was guaranteed to talk to you for hours. He was a member of the Red Stick Fly Fishers Club.
Adam is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lemoine Bongiovanni of almost 50 years; children, Brian Bongiovanni and wife Allison, Kevin Bongiovanni and wife Erin; sister, Barbara Boothby; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Adam Peter and Inez Colombel Bongiovanni; and brother, Charles Bongiovanni.
He has passed on, but for now, we will just say he has “GONE FISHIN.”
A Celebration of his life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
