Born December 9, 1924, he passed to eternal life with Our Heavenly Father on January 20, 2018, at the age of 93.

Affectionately known as "Sweet William", "Twinkle Toes" and "Pops", he lived a beautiful life filled with love for his family and many friends. A native of New Orleans, he graduated from Jesuit High School in 1941 and started college at Loyola University. Having attended Tulane University's V-12 program for officer's training, he served in WWII as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in the North Atlantic and South Pacific aboard a Buckley-class destroyer escort, the USS Daniel T. Griffin, from 1943-1946. He subsequently graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a degree in Economics. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Audrey Polchow Gallmann, and moved to Baton Rouge where he began a long and successful career in Industrial Sales, first with the Edgar Murray Supply Company and finally with the Harold Faust Company. He was a founding member and served as President of Sherwood Forest Country Club, where he loved to golf and spend time with his friends in the 19th Hole. He was President of LSU's Continuing Education program "Lagniappe", a CCD Religion teacher, founding member of St. Thomas More Church and School, a longtime attendee at Manresa House of Retreats, a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and Baton Rouge General Hospital and a member of the Serra Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Helen Gallmann, Sr.; brothers, Charles Gallmann and Robert Gallmann; sisters, Elizabeth Anne Gallmann and Barbara Jean Gallmann Hebert. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 68 years Audrey, sister, Helen Gallmann Roy of New Orleans, brother, Richard Gallmann (Lynne) of Slidell, daughters Lynn G. Poche (Warren) of New Orleans, and Gail G. Mackey of Baton Rouge, sons William H. Gallmann III, MD (JoEllyn), James F. Gallmann (Jackie) both of Baton Rouge and Thomas E. Gallmann (Shara) of Dallas, grandchildren Max Poche, Jillian Poche, Brennan M. Pizzolato (Corey), Dane G. Mackey, MD, (Erin), Heather G. Strittmatter, MD, Amy G. Balelo (Andrew), William H. Gallmann IV, MD (Minette), Lindsay G. Hayes (Matt), Luke Gallmann, Kyle Gallmann and Drew Gallmann, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Ln, Baton Rouge, LA Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 10:00 AM until services at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Max Poche, Dane G. Mackey, MD, William H. Gallmann IV, MD, Luke Gallmann, Kyle Gallmann and Drew Gallmann.
