Alexandra Kate Babcock, a native and resident of Baton Rouge and a child of God, went home to be with her heavenly Father on January 9, 2018 as a result of an automobile accident.
Alex was 25 years old and an RN-BSN who worked in the ICU at OLOL hospital in Baton Rouge. She had planned to return to school this summer to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Alex loved her work and loved helping people; it was why she chose nursing as her career. Alex was always outgoing, vibrant, and fun to be around.
Her family most enjoyed all the wonderful time spent together with Alex on family vacations. She was an amazing person who will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her parents, Tom and Pamela Babcock; grandmother Peggy Babcock of Naples, FL; grandfather, John Patten of Minneapolis; aunt, Molly Day and cousin, Shannon Day of Boston; uncle and aunt, Scott and Suzan Patten of Minneapolis.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Robert Babcock and grandmother, Sharon Patten.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 1:00PM until service at 3:00PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alex’s name to Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge: www.caabr.org.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com

I was so shocked when I got the news the morning after. She and I had just worked an entire shift in the ICU together- laughed, cut up, etc. I left from work heading home the same direction, just minutes before she did.
She told me how she was going to start school for NP, and I had just started for the same thing as well.
She will be missed by her OLOL ICU friends.
RIP Alex, my heart is broken.

    Babcock Family,

I had the privilege of attending Runnels with Alex and playing on the volleyball team with her for many years. She was a wonderful leader for our team and was always so positive and uplifting. We could be down 20 points, and she will still be upbeat and convince us to play like we were winning. She had fun in everything she did. She took it upon herself to mentor and guide the younger girls. She would take the scared freshman and 8th grade girls and give them the confidence and courage they needed. She never spoke ill of anyone and had a radiant spirit that made you feel at ease in her presence. I looked to her many times for her guidance and positive nature. She was selfless and nurturing, always making sure no one was left out or uncomfortable, always the first one to offer a ride or a hug, always the first person to offer to stay late or come early. It is rare that you encounter someone like Alex in your lifetime. Someone who truly doesn't have to try to be exceptional but simply is. I am honored to have known her and to call have called her a friend. I cannot imagine the pain your family is experiencing and will not try to comprehend your sorrow. I am lifting you up in ceaseless prayer and thoughts. Your daughter directly impacted my life, molded me into a stronger leader, and lead by her example. She was a true friend and a loving person.

    Pamela and Tom,
Alex was a beautiful and precious angel that God loaned to you and to us for 25 remarkable years--during which time she reached out and touched the lives of many of God's children. She left a legacy that will inspire others to follow her example. May it comfort you to know and feel deep in your soul that Alex was a giver--not a taker--during her time on this earth. Only the future will reveal what her influence has been on all those with whom she has come in contact with. Now, it is time to return her to her Heavenly Father who has a plan and a purpose for her eternal life in heaven.
